On Thursday’s episode of The Secret Circle, the impending arrival of John Blackwell won’t be the only development causing ripples in Chance Harbor.

As actor Chris Zylka teases, Blackwell’s return wasn’t enough of a twist. “Not only is the return of [Cassie's father] not surprising enough, they added an element of ‘Oh shoot, the witch hunters are back!,’ ” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “That will be a nice surprise.”

The episode also sees Zylka’s Jake sacrificing himself in an attempt to save Cassie, who is captured by the witch hunters after some unforeseen events unfold. (“The promo for ‘Return’ is pretty scary,” Zylka admitted.)

Here are four things to look out for in future episodes:

Photoshoots and Potraits > Chris Zylka > Session #01

A star’s rise from ‘Shark Night 3D’ to ‘Spider-Man.’

Chris Zylka has a formula for making it in Hollywood. Sitting on the balcony of the Presidential Suite at the Beverly Hilton — a balcony so big that when he first went outside, he mistakenly thought it must be communal — the former model tugs at his knit cap, surveys the impressive view, takes a drag from his American Spirit, and says, “The first step is to try not to be homeless.”

Coming from Zylka, 26, it sounds like a joke, since he’s moving to Vancouver to start a regular gig on The Secret Circle, the CW’s show about a group of terribly attractive witches, and will flash his toothy grin on screens later this year as Peter Parker’s nemesis, Flash Thompson, in The Amazing Spider-Man reboot. Surely his all-American good looks and easy charm opened doors for him when he first hauled to L.A., right? Not quite.

After losing Cassie (Britt Robertson) to Adam (Thomas Dekker) and ending his fling with Faye (Phoebe Tonkin), what’s in store for Jake (Chris Zylka) on “The Secret Circle?” Saving Cassie Blake, for starters. As if any boy in Chance Harbor had anything better to do.

In Thursday night’s all-new episode, entitled “Return” (9 p.m. EST on The CW), Cassie’s thought-to-be-dead evil father, John Blackwell, shows up on her doorstep asking for the medallion she found in the wreckage of the fire that killed their parents.

In last week’s “Secret Circle” Valentine’s Day episode, Cassie (Britt Robertson) and Adam (Thomas Dekker) finally shared the romantic moment he’s been angling at for weeks. Given her tendencies to act independently of the Circle, though, is it any wonder that there’s already a little tension in their brand-new relationship?

This Thursday’s episode marks the return of John Blackwell (Joe Lando), Cassie’s missing-in-action father who was presumed dead for most of her life. When he reenters Cassie’s life, thanks to a spell she cast, he warns her that she’s in danger and tells her to meet him for more information.

Adam, unsurprisingly, isn’t exactly on board with this plan. Check out the exclusive clip below to see their rather awkward post-date interaction. Isn’t love grand?
